BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Multiple school districts in the greater Baton Rouge region are experiencing disruptions due to a cyber security breach at a widely-used educational software provider.
Parents in both Ascension Parish and Livingston Parish Public Schools received notifications on Wednesday, Jan. 8, informing them that their districts were among numerous PowerSchool clients worldwide whose information may have been compromised in a cybersecurity incident.
Ascension Parish School System shared details about the breach and subsequent actions through a statement on their Facebook page.
Livingston Parish Public Schools issued a comparable announcement.
WAFB is contacting additional school districts nearby to determine if they were affected.
