Honeywell, NXP Semiconductors strengthen collaboration on aviation innovations

Jan 8 (Reuters) – Honeywell HON.O and NXP Semiconductors NXPI.O are broadening their strategic alliance to create AI-powered solutions for aviation and self-flying capabilities, the firms announced on Wednesday. The collaboration will integrate Honeywell’s Anthem avionics system – a cloud-linked cockpit platform – with NXP’s processing architecture to enhance flight operations and management. The initiative aims to adapt NXP’s autonomous system framework, initially designed for automobiles, with Anthem to advance self-flying aircraft technology.

The financial terms of the agreement remained undisclosed, which expands upon their previous joint venture from last year centered on Honeywell’s building control systems. Self-flying technology has emerged as a key focus in aviation, with electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle manufacturers seeking to transform urban transportation.
