Japanese tech giant announces plans for major manufacturing facility in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WBKO) – Nitto, a worldwide leader in advanced technology development and manufacturing of products serving the automotive, electronics, aerospace, and other sectors, will establish a new manufacturing plant in Frankfort.

The announcement came from Gov. Andy Beshear today. The new facility is projected to generate 220 permanent positions.

“Kentucky’s current economic success stems directly from exceptional growth in our core industries, with manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace leading the way,” Gov. Beshear stated in a release. “We consistently witness quality enterprises like Nitto expanding their operations to address increasing market demands, which creates a foundation for sustained economic prosperity. I extend my gratitude to Nitto’s leadership for this investment and anticipate their continued expansion in our state.”

“Nitto looks forward to establishing our presence in the capital city and welcoming our workforce to the region in 2025,” said Yukihiro Horikawa, president of Nitto Inc. in a release. “The Bluegrass region offers exceptional accessibility to our customer base. We are impressed by the community and thrilled to make this investment in Frankfort.”

The company was established in Japan in 1918. The release states that the organization strives to develop products and services that make positive environmental and social impacts. Nitto’s global workforce exceeds 27,000 employees.

The new Frankfort facility will be situated at 120 Fortune Drive within Franklin County’s Industrial Park 3. According to the release, full production operations will commence in spring 2025.
